THE BAND AND ITS MUSIC
Our band plays New Orleans jazz music in the
revival style. We mostly perform as a sextet,
comprising trumpet, clarinet/saxophone, piano,
banjo, bass and drums, but according to
circomstances and venue we can also appear as
a quartet or quintet. Our musical philosophy is
based on the recorded work of the New Orleans
greats, particularly the George Lewis Band. We
have a broad repertoire* including jazz standards, blues/boogie woogie, gospel, spirituals and hymns as well as old popsongs and french «chansons» and are equally well adapted to play at concerts, festivals, jazz dinners, brunches, bars, dances or private functions like weddings and anniversaries. The
«Delta Four » Quartet, existing from 1987, was extended by trumpet and drums to the «Barbara Widmer’s New Revival Band» in 1998. We are playing with great success at many jazz festivals, clubs, restaurants and bars in Switzerland, the UK, Germany and France and are dedicated to continue the traditional music of the Crescent City in a spirited, enthusiastic and exciting way. So far we have recorded 8 CD’s .
